“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12

Throughout the Bible, it is abundantly clear that God can and does work in the hearts of all kinds of people to reflect Him to the world. In Jesus’ day, calling fishermen, tax collectors, women, and children to minister alongside Him was radical, yet Jesus longed for His people to understand that everyone who calls on His name has great work to do for the Kingdom.

Sam, a young boy whose family has a huge heart for orphans, is a perfect example of this great work.

One morning, Sam came to his mom, Michelle, and told her that he wanted to give his stuffed animals to orphans. He figured if they didn’t have a lot of food, they probably didn’t know the comfort of having their very own stuffed animal.

Michelle was moved by her son’s thoughtfulness and determined to come alongside and help him to do what he was feeling led to do. The family contemplated donating the items to Goodwill, but knew that Sam wanted the toys to go to orphans specifically. As there are currently no international trips due to Covid, they came up with another plan.

Together they decided that Sam would put some of his toys and stuffed animals in their upcoming garage sale and give the proceeds to orphans through The Boaz Project.

After the sale, Sam was able to donate $100 to Boaz to impact orphans!

Sam attended a portion of our caregiver livestream and was able to see firsthand the people his generous donation would be impacting. This gave him a greater understanding of the difference he is able to make and how God was able to use him, even at such a young age.

We were all so moved by Sam’s heart and reminded that God calls all of His people to actively care for orphans.

We pray that you are also inspired by Sam’s example and that you would be motivated to join God as He daily ministers to orphans all over the world.

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
