| We met 5-year-old Kian for the first time on our trip to Kenya this past August. Immediately, we were struck by his radiant smile and eyes that seemed to sparkle. There was something unashamed and bold about him and the love that overflowed from his tiny self. Our team adored him instantly. Soon after we arrived, we learned that he had come to our partners’ home with his twin sister, Khaisha, and their older brother, Liam. We were surprised to hear that the sibling trio had only been in the home for about two months, as they all, in their own ways, seemed so comfortable, joyful, and integrated into the family. This is not always the reality for children when they first come into our partner homes, as many take time to build trust and to feel safe. But Liam, Kian, and Khaisha were a very clear picture to us of the power a safe, loving home and caregivers can have in the life of a child who has not known this kind of consistent love. The transformative power of Jesus’ love was tangible through their house mother, Catherine, lovingly tending to them, all three of them being embraced by the other children in the home, and the freedom to play and simply be children. Children like Liam, Kian, and Khaisha remind us that an “orphan” is not an abstract concept or a story we hear about. When you invest your time, resources, and prayers into orphan care, you are eternally impacting the lives of real children. And, more than that, you are reflecting the heart of Jesus, who always hears the cries of His children and is with them in their suffering. |

Thank you, Catherine, for creating a loving atmosphere filled with Jesus where kids like Kian and his family can thrive. Such a beautiful highlight for what you do daily behind the scenes that is not always recognized. I pray blessing and strength over your home and children.
The love of Christ is balm to the soul! What a powerful story! Praising the Lord for His care and thanking Catherine for loving like He does.
