Year-End Prayer Requests:

1. Michael M (15 yrs) recently took his exams to move from middle school to high school. He is currently awaiting the results. He is an extremely bright and passionate boy with hopes of becoming a missionary one day. We continue to pray for his future.

2. Peter K (18 yrs) is currently retaking his high school exams, which will determine if he is able to go into his desired field of study—civil engineering. Please pray for him to be confident in his knowledge and that he will recall all he has studied. He has worked so hard to improve his previous score!

3. Lift up the nation of Kenya in the aftermath of August’s presidential election. Joel informed me that the losing candidate’s supporters are planning public protests in the near future. Please pray for safety throughout these protests and that, ultimately, there would be peace in the nation.

 4. Joel has requested prayer for many of the boys who are missing family members and longing to visit them, which is not possible for a variety of reasons. He is keenly aware of the ache that many of them feel, especially around the holidays when time with family is emphasized. Please pray that they would enjoy this break and cherish the family they have at El Shaddai, but also that they would have the space to grieve those they’ve lost.

A Dream Come True

As we pulled up to El Shaddai Children’s Center this past July, we were stunned to see the new building progress up-close. We were able to walk through all of the rooms on the main floor and three of the apartments. It was truly incredible to physically walk through these spaces and know that they will soon be filled by dedicated house parents and children who will learn what it means to be part of a safe, loving family–most likely for the first time in their lives.

Called to Care

While on the trip, we held trauma-informed care training for an amazing group of Kenyans, some of whom may become house parents in the new building. It was a blessing to hear their stories and to learn together during those three days. We grew to adore those in attendance and are hopeful for the future of these new homes.

Please pray for our partners, specifically Bishop Lydia, Pastor Steve, and the board of El Shaddai, as they discern who would be the best fit for their ministry.

Meet Fabian!

Fabian is 12 years old and has called El Shaddai Children’s Center in Limuru, Kenya home for a year now.

Fabi, as he is called by the other boys at ESCC, is in 5th grade and is doing very well in his studies. He is extremely intelligent, outgoing, confident, and expressive.

When Fabi grows up, he wants to be a musician and especially loves to rap.

Please pray for Fabian as he continues to adjust to his new home. Pray that he will know and believe he is loved by his caregivers at El Shaddai and, most importantly, by his Heavenly Father.
