For countless orphaned children around the world, the journey through trauma and loss is marked by profound challenges and uncertainties. In the absence of familial bonds, these children often find themselves grappling with feelings of abandonment, grief, and longing for belonging.
In this fifth and final installment of our ”Faith-Based Healing for Orphans” blog series, we’re discussing how The Boaz Project’s partner caregivers step up and embrace trauma care for orphans, embodying Christ’s love and compassion as they do so.
Trauma Care for Orphans at The Boaz Project
At the heart of our caregivers’ ministry lies a commitment to unconditional love and acceptance, mirroring the compassionate love of Jesus Christ. Driven by the belief in the inherent dignity and worth of every individual, our partners around the world create safe and nurturing environments where orphaned children can find solace and support amidst their pain.
In many cultures where we operate, orphans are often viewed as outcasts—society’s castaways. However, our partners defy this stigma by welcoming these children into their homes and treating them as beloved family members. This acceptance not only bears witness to surrounding communities but also cultivates the essential sense of belonging that is crucial for a child’s healing journey.
The Whole-Brain Child, by Drs. Dan Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson, underscores a pivotal approach our caregivers embrace: “connect and then correct.” This principle emphasizes the importance of reassuring a child of their unconditional love before addressing any behavioral issues. By doing so, caregivers help disarm the child’s survival instincts, creating a space where genuine healing and growth can occur.
At the heart of this approach lies the concept of unconditional love—a relationship not based on behavior but rooted in unwavering acceptance and care. Beyond this foundational love, our partners fervently pray for God’s miraculous intervention in the lives of the children they serve. Time and again, they witness divine healing that transcends the boundaries of conventional therapy.
Through The Boaz Project’s network of caregiving partners, sanctuaries are created—places where orphaned children can flourish and rediscover hope. By embodying the unconditional love of Jesus and fervently calling upon Him for healing, these sanctuaries become havens of restoration and transformation for vulnerable children.
The Boaz Project stands as a beacon of faith-based healing for orphans worldwide, offering not just shelter and sustenance but a pathway to wholeness through the transformative power of unconditional love and prayerful intervention.

The message of connect and then correct being stressed, to me, is so important! The children’s trauma can make them feel abandoned, hurt, etc, so connecting with them and making sure they are doing okay before furthering the tougher conversations is amazing! It really is like a parent/child relationship!
The “Connect, then Correct” idea reminds me of God and his love for his children. Impressing in every situation the caregivers love for the child, no matter the situation, reflects the love that Christ has for us. It is his kindness that leads us to repentance, and the Lord disciplines those He loves. Correcting is not for punishments sake, but for the sake of the child’s thriving. I am so encouraged that this approach is being used!
Such a beautiful reminder of what true Christlike love looks like. Grateful for The Boaz Project and its caregivers, who not only meet children’s physical needs but also nurture their hearts, and point them to the hope and healing found in Jesus.
In Boaz homes, the children feel loved and secure. The thing that is, what I have to believe is God’s plan, is it not only affects the Boaz home but the entire community. God’s word is being spread.
