If you’ve ever considered visiting India but hesitated due to common concerns, you’re not alone. Many people have misconceptions about traveling to this vast and diverse country. We have found that three pressing questions often prevent people from taking this life-changing journey:
Is It Dangerous?
Traveling anywhere in the world carries some level of risk, but over the past twenty years, we have taken teams to India and built strong relationships with local partners, hotel workers, and trusted drivers. These individuals are committed to keeping us safe, ensuring that our experience is not only secure but also enriching.
Additionally, before each trip, we provide training to prepare you for the journey. This will help you feel confident, informed, and ready for an incredible experience. With The Boaz Project, you are in good hands.
Is It Dirty?
Yes, India is home to over a billion people, which means crowded streets and bustling markets, which could be overwhelming at first. But soon, your perspective will shift. The vibrant colors, the lively atmosphere, and the rich culture will capture your heart.
Is It Spiritually Dark?
India is a land of diverse religious beliefs, with a myriad of temples and altars. But amid this landscape, you will also witness the powerful presence of God through our partners and their children—dedicated Christians who stand firm in their faith despite the weight of persecution they live under daily. Your faith will be encouraged as you see the global Church in a whole new way.
At the end of the day, your decision to visit India with The Boaz Project is about more than just overcoming fears or concerns. It’s about the children and caregivers you will serve. It’s about stepping into a mission that aligns with the heart of God.
Don’t let challenges—real or perceived—hold you back from answering His call! If God is stirring something in your heart, take the step of faith. The adventure, the lessons, and blessings that await you in India are far greater than any obstacle in your way.

I had the experience of going to India last fall. I was very nervous about going although for none of the reasons listed above. I was afraid I wasn’t knowledgeable enough to share with these young lives, I wouldn’t fit in with the others going on the trip.
The house parents and children were wonderful and made you feel welcome as well as the leaders that we went with. Although I still felt very inadequate and everyone else was so much more knowledgeable it was a great trip and I recommend it.
I am very excited to learn more about The Boaz project and India. This article answers so many of the questions I have about field work. Answering God’s call requires that I step out in faith and I can’t wait to see His blessings abound.
This is such an inspiring invitation! The idea of seeing God’s work through faithful believers in the midst of challenges is so encouraging.
As I sign up for India next fall, I am nervous only because I am an introvert. I feel God is telling me to get out of my comfort zone. No growth in God is gained by doing nothing, I have great love for God’s children and want to do his will.
