| In August, we had the opportunity to take a team of 12 to visit our partners and their children in Kenya. Throughout our time, we led the kids in a Vacation Bible School focused around how we can experience God through our five primary senses. The children, house mothers, and VBS leaders dove into Scripture and activities designed to engage each sense and encourage gratitude for the way God has created us to feel His presence in the world around us. |
| As with every team, it is so inspiring to see everyone bring their gifts and talents to the table to bring light and fun to the kids. Two groups started each day in praise and worship, lifting their beautiful voices to the Lord. The oldest group, consisting of teen boys, found safety and belonging within their discussions over God’s Word. Several of them opened up about personal experiences and struggles in their walk with Christ, asking good questions and seeking to dive deeper. The four house mothers also experienced an outpouring of love and encouragement as team members took time to listen, ask questions, and include them in our activities. One expressed, “You made us feel seen, heard, and valued by you and by everyone at The Boaz Project.” God is so faithful to pour His strength into each and every one of us, in the midst of jet lag, sickness, and the unfamiliarity of a new culture. He empowered us to surround one another in prayer and encourage each other to keep our eyes focused on our purpose for being in Kenya—to minister His love to orphans and their caregivers. We attended our partners’ church on Sunday, as we always do, but this time the children were leading the entire service! Allan and Duncan led praise and worship time, as several boys and girls from our partner home danced and waved flags. Evans guided us in corporate prayer. A few of the young girls sang a special song. All of the kids performed a skit about the apostle Paul’s conversion. Patrick preached a sermon about the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. As if we hadn’t already received so many gifts from God throughout the week, we also had the opportunity to participate in a dedication ceremony for six new children at our partner home. Each of us got to stand with a child, committing to continue lifting them in prayer as they grow in understanding and love for the Lord. It is an almost indescribable joy to join together as the family of Christ—across cultures, languages, and backgrounds—in the same mission. Every time we visit our partners in Kenya, it is even clearer how God has intentionally led every person to the home to fulfill His purpose of providing safe, loving homes and families for orphans. I can confidently say that this purpose is being accomplished in this home, and I look forward with eager anticipation at how God will use each child within it to show everyone who they meet where the greatest love and truest healing can be found. It’s truly inspiring to see the incredible work being done by caregivers who are raising children on strong moral foundations and helping them know Christ, who is the true foundation of life. The Boaz Project is doing an amazing job bringing hope and comfort to these children. I’m deeply inspired by the effort to ensure that they never feel a gap in their hearts.
Thank you for caring and showing the children the way, love protection and the light of God.When the children know Christ it’s easy to manage because they will have the fear of God as the beginning of wisdom.Godbless you.
Reading about the love and care that is provided not only to the children, but just as importantly, to the caregivers. The sense of God’s presence through the lens of the writer was felt throughout this story.
That was good move hence I know the vocational bible study really moulded the kids spiritual and physically.indeed it was so inspiring
Proverbs 11:25 says, A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.’ This means that when we give to others, especially those in need, we will also be blessed.
How incredible! The Lord is so generous in allowing us to partner with Him in the work that He is doing all over the globe. To give is better than to receive.
Reading this one was just a lovely reminiscence. Thank you, Courtney, for that beautiful summary of our time there.
